I don't think the first couple of attempts counted as "steps." I could barely figure out how to properly pick my knee up to move forward (a bit of a foreshadow of whats to come). I was unable to lift my leg over a small orange cone so we switched to a "fake" cone, or the paper, cone shaped cups that are in doctors offices. A bit pathetic but hey at least it's a step in the right direction. However, the whole time I felt like my hip was going to pop out and it was very painful and uncomfortable. Cam told me I should expect pain and that it's something that I might still have during recovery. However he said the feeling that my hip is going to "pop" out should start to disappear once my muscles get stronger and are able support my hip again. When that will be I have no idea seeing as I only have 6 more appointments before RPAO surgery.
I have PT again tomorrow and we will try walking a little more (and with "real" cones). Hopefully the pain doesn't become unbearable again! I'd like to feel like I am making progress!
My knees have been killing me lately. Cam did some ART on my left knee and I can't say it felt good. They are super sore now and makes walking and putting more pressure even more difficult. Hopefully he can work the knee pain out with ART during the next appointments! They are a bit swollen right now and I am not sure why!
