Freedom

Today was my knee and ankle post-op appointment. I saw my surgeon for both. I had x-rays of the leg and so far things look like they are heading in the right direction. The bones are almost healed and I have been cleared to start physical therapy and weight-bearing as tolerated with crutches. I have also been cleared to progressively start bending my knee more. This is all very good news!

My surgeon told me that it is possible that my right knee burning pain is the beginning of CRPS. Hopefully that's not the case but we will monitor it and try to contain it as much as possible. The lightning bolt pain is likely a result of having a nerve compartment release during my knee surgery.

I will head back to Boston in April. It will be a busy trip involving a right shoulder evaluation with MRI, PAO appointment to determine whether or not the cartilage deterioration in my hips has changed. Also, obviously my 4 month post-op appointment for my knee and ankle. We are going to fit it all in before Easter.

Seeing as the March 17th Bruins game is looking like it's not going to work, I am hoping to go to the last home game of the regular season--the weekend of all of these appointments. We will then spend Easter Sunday in Connecticut with the Murphy family.

During this trip I will be meeting with the EDS specialist in the program that Children's is starting and we are also going to try to see a neurosurgeon in New England for Chiari and my back (tethered cord-there can be a connection). Seeing as my head feels worse than before starting my first treatment of manipulations, we feel it is necessary to at least get another opinion from a specialist. My next treatment is next week.

I wont be posting very often just when new information arises or I feel something is important.

Hope everyone is doing well!
